Heal grief with self-love

Zenblog Heal grief with self-love

ZENBLOG // Feeling blue, melancholic, and sad are important emotions and a meaningful part of life, especially in the autumn when days get shorter and darker. When we do not face our sorrows and emotions, they may turn into grief. How to witness and heal the grief?

Grief is a hard emotion. It is a pain when we experience loss or death, when we feel the bumps of life, and we suffer.
Yes, let it go, it belongs to life, the life is in constant change, impermanent, we know it. It is not easy, the losses are not easy to move through.
We should look within and identify the sources of sorrow if we hold onto something.  We should accept the grief, too.
It is important to accept the change, slow down, and let go of what no longer serves us. It needs time, it cannot be fixed quickly. How to deal with hard emotions?

Heal grief with self-compassion. It is important to face and witness grief, process, and honor it. If we do not witness it, it can lead to despair, depression, clinging to the past and to other emotional disorders, which can go deep in our soul and destroy the joy of life.
Look gently inside. Remember to heal these emotions with self-compassion. Understand to respect yourself during your hard moments and with your difficult feelings. The grief may never go away but transforms to a beautiful memory and a part of your life.

Meditate, reflect your life. Cultivate self-love, be gentle with yourself. Meditate, just sit with your feelings, and let them heal. If you suffer, see and find the roots of your suffering. Find some light inside, try to find the seeds of hope and confidence inside you.
Observe how do you speak to yourself. Remember, you are enough, you are worth of love.

“MAY I LEARN TO LOOK AT MYSELF WITH THE EYES
OF UNDERSTANDING AND LOVE.” Thich Nhat Hanh

Support lung Qi with pranayama. This grief accumulates in the lungs in Chinese Medicine, and it is the emotion of Metal Element. The lungs are very vulnerable organ. The physical symptoms of prolonged grief are sighing, shallow breathing, and respiratory issues, when the natural movement of Qi energy gets blocked or stuck.
Let go but in order to let got, we need to let in too. Practicing pranayama, the breathing exercises, will help strengthen your lungs, enhance the lung’s Kong Qi, and support the immunity system, the protective Wei Qi. Any full chest breathing is good.
Protect yourself from cold, wind, and chill, keep your neck and upper body warm, and avoid sitting too long.

Gentle Yin for the grief. The meridians, the energy channels of the Metal run in the arms.
Yin postures that stretch the arms, activate, and nourish these meridians. Also, the upper back openings and back bends make more space for the lungs and chest to breath.
For example, lying butterfly with a block under the upper back, is a beautiful heart-opener. Practice it daily, cultivate self-love and breath gently some warming, golden light into your heart centre. Feel the healing effects on kind self-care.
